Implementation of SAP FS-CD

Simplification, streamlining, and acceleration of the accounting process for insurance premiums

A complete implementation of SAP FS-CD ECC 6.03 for the product lines "Auto & Fire" at Farmers Insurance.

The objective was to simplify and accelerate the accounting and collections processes, not only in SAP, but for the entire system landscape. The main challenge was to process master data changes from new policies and policy changes and the respective changes to the premiums (first premiums, renewal premiums) online.

The problem was exacerbated by the fact that the premiums were not posted just once, but the payment plan functionality (scheduling) was operational, which required particular data to be delivered, as payment plan parameters, in all conceivable variations.

ConVista was responsible for the FS-CD part of the project right from the start of the blueprint phase. At that particular point in time, there was no comparable online implementation of FS-CD anywhere in the world, so ConVista developed a prototype against which the proof of concept was validated. ConVista was also responsible for the actual implementation of FS-CD: the design document, the developments, production plan, and the planning of the upgrade cycles, which had to be co-ordinated with the interfacing systems. The implemented FS-CD application covered all general collections functionality (posting, invoicing, payments, dunning etc.), as well as some pre-calculations for the future insurance premium amounts, which were used as a tool for producing quotations.
