Management Information System to measure operational performance.

Transparent Database as a Basis for Process and System Optimization

The aim of the project was to provide GELSENWASSER AG with a technical benchmarking Management Information System to increase the monitoring of individual performance of the operations management and water supply management.

One particularly challenging area of the project was the integration and harmonization of data from SAP and non-SAP source systems. The new data model provided the ability to: analyse cost right down to item level, analyse portfolios of all technical objects, error messages and claims messages as well as the quarter hourly delivery rates.

The key performance indicators are based on the structure of the key financial figures according to HGB (commercial law) and the key figure structures W1100 and IWA (utility specific). In particular, the dynamic structure according to W1100 and IWA made a large amount of data easily accessible for users that had no SAP knowledge at all.
