Asset Management and Maintenance

Focusing on the "essentials" in one system only

The productivity and efficiency requirements demanded by the German Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) increase the pressure on the asset managers of the grid operators. These financial pressures are passed onto the asset service and as a direct result the budget available for operating the grids is reduced. The ability to focus the available resources on the areas that are essential becomes a necessity in such circumstances. But what are the "essentials" here? To answer this question, you need information on your equipment: apart from questions about age, material, the renewal cycle and the current individual conditions as well as the operating costs of individual components also have to be considered.

All necessary information has to be available in one system. We refer to this system as the "equipment information system". The equipment information system is often made-up of a geographic information system, an SAP system, and specific expert systems, which in part, also serve to control the installation (control system). Such an equipment information system is indeed complex and requires a structured and target-oriented procedure for the implementation. This ensures that all necessary information is collected, processed, and can be accessed and viewed at any time. Our consultants design, analyze, and optimize such systems.
