Energy Data Management

Systematic support for system integration

Energy data management is the central storage location for processing independent and interval-based energy data. The software’s processing rules are derived from business specifications and extensive regulatory requirements.

Market communication allows companies to exchange energy data, down to the exact metering point. One of the biggest challenges is to acquire good quality and timely data from one’s own systems, which means that the EDM platform needs to be integrated and needs to be capable of processing complex validations, including financial validations, as errors may occur within balancing group deviations, for example.

In order to meet these challenges effectively, it is necessary to check the systemic integration of the EDM solution in the IT landscape and, if required, make any enhancements. As part of a harmonization and/or (re)standardization project, one solution within the system integration could allow both change processes and EDM processes to access the same databases. Precise rules for updating data are essential, even more so if they take into account subsequent  processes.

For distribution networks and sales, the advantage of this is that it allows access to  the most current data, without the need for implementing interfaces. This then helps, for instance, with processes such as shadow accounting.

  • Planning and executing workshops for optimizing the integration of existing EDM systems
  • Designing and implementing SAP IS-U/EDM in accordance with the German Market Rules for Balancing Group Billing (MaBiS), the Basic Model of the Federal Network Agency for Compensation Services and Balancing Rules in the Gas Sector (GABi Gas), and the co-operation agreement for grid and sales (where relevant to the processes)
  • Definition of requirements, creation of specifications, and other support with vendor-independent tenders for EDM systems
